What to Expect

The CLEAR ALIGNER Treatment Process

Initial Consultation

To begin the process, you'll need to see Dr. Morren for a comprehensive consultation to evaluate your teeth, bite, and overall oral health. Dr. Morren will determine whether you are a strong candidate for SimplyClear® treatment and walk you through your options at our Westlake office.

First Sets of Aligners

If you're approved for treatment, Dr. Morren will take precise digital scans of your teeth to design a fully customized SimplyClear® treatment plan. Your first sets of trays will be fabricated and ready for pickup at our office, typically within a few weeks.

Wearing Your Aligners

Each set of aligners is typically worn for 20-22 hours or longer per day. They should be removed only to eat and drink, and to brush and floss. Each set is worn for about 2 weeks. You will need to come back into our office periodically for a quick oral exam and to get your next few sets of aligners.

Treatment Completion

You will continue progressing through each set of trays until your teeth have reached their final position. At your last appointment, Dr. Morren will confirm your results and fit you with a retainer to keep your new smile in place, marking the successful completion of your treatment.

Is There Anything I Can't Do While Wearing My Aligners?

Clear aligner treatment requires consistent compliance to be effective. Trays must be worn at least 22 hours per day and should only be removed for eating, drinking anything other than water, and your oral hygiene routine. Smoking while wearing your trays is strongly discouraged, as it can stain the plastic and compromise your results.

What Happens When I'm Done With Treatment?

Finishing your active treatment is a major milestone, but maintaining your results requires ongoing effort. Once treatment is complete, you will transition into a retainer worn nightly. Without consistent retainer use, teeth can gradually drift back toward their original position over time.

How Do I Take Care of My Aligners?

First, let's cover what you shouldn't do. Don't smoke, eat, drink hot liquids, or consume flavored drinks with your aligners in. We recommend abstaining from smoking during your treatment altogether. These behaviors increase your risk of staining your aligners and getting cavities.

Hot water can warp your aligners. Clean them with a soft-bristle toothbrush and denture cleaner twice a day, preferably in the morning and at night. Rinse under cold water when taking them out and keep them in their storage case when not in use.

Always remove your trays before eating or drinking anything other than water, and brush your teeth before placing them back in. Rinse your trays with cool water every time you take them out, and soak them in a denture cleaner or dedicated aligner cleaning solution for at least 15 minutes each day.
